Overview

Banestes is a public financial institution, controlled by the State of Espírito Santo, with over 70 years of experience in the Brazilian financial market. According to the Central Bank, it has the largest banking network in Espírito Santo and is the only institution with branches in all of the state's 78 municipalities, offering a complete portfolio of financial products and services to individual and corporate clients.

The Bank's activities are focused on loans to individuals and small, medium-sized and large companies. In order to complement the loan portfolio and offer clients a wide variety of products and services, the Bank also operates in the foreign exchange market, offering products focused on import and export financing, such as advances on export contracts (ACCs), advances on foreign-exchange contracts (ACEs), letters of credit and others.

When it celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2007, Banestes, now professionally managed and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, began a new chapter in its history at the same time as Espírito Santo reached a milestone in its trajectory, with the consolidation of institutional stability, a new development model and a new economic cycle. At the time of its foundation, back in the 1930s, the Bank also witnessed some important changes in Espírito Santo; unlike today, however, 70 years ago the state was under federal intervention in the midst of a dictatorship, and the economy was anything but promising, especially after the Wall Street crash in 1929, which triggered a massive crisis in the coffee-growing industry, the basis of the local economy at that time.

Seventy years after its inception, and against a completely different political and economic background, Banestes is once again playing a crucial role in the life of the state.

Names of the Bank

In 1969, the Bylaws were amended and Banco de Crédito Agrícola do Espírito Santo became Banco do Estado do Espírito Santo S.A.

In 1989, it became a multiple-service bank under the new name of BANESTES S.A. and began offering additional financial services, such as social security, private pension plans and leasing, among others.

In 1993, in line with its positioning, it adopted a logo that spotlighted Espírito Santo. In 1995, it made some changes, launching the slogan "O Banco sempre perto de você". The current logo is Banestes - Sempre perto de você (Banestes- Always near you).
